Survivorship Analysis of AO Fixator Interne Spine Instrumentation in the Treatment of Dorsal and Lumbar Vertebral Burst Fracture

Abstract

|
We treated and followed of 62 cases of dorsal and lumbar vertebral burst fractures with AO fixator Interne spine instrumentation and these were divided into two groups; (1) burst fracture without neurologic impairment (45 cases) and (2) burst
fracture
with neurologic impairment (17 cases). We analvsed the effect of the spinal instrumentation for treatment of the thoracic and lumbar verterbral burst fracture by using survivorship analysis and the results were as follows:
1. Survivor rate at the final follow up were 75.3% in group l and 87.4% in group 2.
2. All screw breakage occurred at the distal screw .
3. All cases of screw breakage had clinical symptoms such as mild pain and increase kyphosis at the final follow up.
